Five funniest moments from Bryson DeChambeau’s round with Donald Trump

A link-up between the former president and the recent US Open winner produced some amusing highlights, Joe Biden jibes and terrible putting

The moment Bryson DeChambeau announced former president Donald Trump was going to be on his YouTube golf channel, the internet exploded.
Trump featured on DeChambeau’s ‘Break 50’ series which sees the two-time US Open champion team up with various celebrities and golf influencers in an attempt to play 18 holes in less than 50 from the most forward tees on the golf course. Spoiler alert: they fail.
The most divisive US president in history and golfer teaming up put the internet into a frenzy with the video already clearing 4 million views in under 24 hours.
Here Telegraph Sport looks at the funniest moments.
Trump no longer has to consider President Joe Biden as his election rival but he still considers him his biggest golf threat. The pair got into a heated televised debate which saw Trump tease the Democrat about his swing and question whether he was actually a six handicap.
DeChambeau promised that the video was not a political stunt to aid Trump’s bid to get into the White House for a second time but it seems the billionaire did not get the memo.
Unsurprisingly seconds into the video Trump is seen on the driving range wearing a cap in Republican red with his slogan ‘Make America Great Again’ with ‘President 45 / 47’ plastered along the side. Subtle, as always.
Surprisingly Trump managed to not bring up anything political on the first hole but after sticking it close on the par three second hole he turned and said: “You think Biden can do that?” Humble, as always.

Trump goes full Jeremy Paxman on DeChambeau as he interviews him about the nervy four-footer on the 18th he had to ensure he beat Rory McIlroy for the US Open last month.
DeChambeau dives into the nuances of his process before Trump interjects that he would have been ‘branded as a choker’ had he missed.
“Some guy who is 150lbs overweight would have been going ‘he’s a choker, he’s a choker’”, Trump continues. Surprisingly, DeChambeau just stands there instead of getting out some scales and asking Trump to stand on them.
Trump reminds viewers the Bedminster course they are playing on is beautiful and not just because he owns it.
Around halfway into the video as the pair are cruising from one hole to the other Trump educates the ‘Mad Scientist’ on the trees dotted around the course.
“You see the trees there? They grow naturally,” he whispers to DeChambeau as if it is top secret information he gained during his four years in office at the White House.

Trump has been accused of being a golf cheat with many in disbelief at how many club championships he claims to have won and the notion, which he boasts in the video, that he has made EIGHT, yes eight, hole-in-ones.
With this, the first insight into Trump’s game for many, golf fanatics quickly began analysing his swing. According to specialists on X, Trump plays the ‘perfect’ baby fade with his driver and counteracts his lack of hip movement with a full body turn.
But his hilarious upward motion after putting really got people talking with his putter finishing aiming towards the sky.
Yet the biggest compliment DeChambeau gives Trump on his game is the phrase: “the President is inside me” which in golf has no vulgar meaning other than being closer to the hole than your playing partner.
There is little doubt after the video that Trump can play golf. However, much like his politics he does it in his own way and is very effective.

Golf is a game known for its rigid rules but there are a few cardinal sins which can get you thrown off a course. In addition to not having your tee shirt tucked in or wearing a cap in the clubhouse, disrespect shown to the sacred greens and tee boxes is something that unites the golfing world in anger.
Talking about celebrities he has met in his life, Trump breaks away from the nearly 20-long golf buggy convoy of secret service following them around and mows across a number of tee boxes leaving many golf purists in disgust. One let rip in the comments: “Who does he think he is, driving that buggy wherever he likes like he owns the place!”
The thing is, he does.
